EDDY's Kitchen Review: Fine Dining by Chef Edward Kwon

EDDY's Kitchen, located in Jangyu, Gimhae, is a fine dining restaurant led by the famous chef Edward Kwon.  Kwon has established a significant presence in the culinary world, including stints in top restaurants around the globe. This restaurant offers a sophisticated dining experience, blending modern interior design with refined dishes.

1. Location ★★★
The restaurant is situated in Daecheong-dong, Gimhae, just after the Changwon Tunnel, making it easily accessible by car from Changwon. However, it can be a bit difficult to visit without a vehicle, which is a drawback. On the plus side, it has a well-maintained parking facility, and the road to the restaurant is smooth and convenient.

2. Facilities & Atmosphere ★★★★
EDDY's Kitchen is housed within the large "Esquisse" building, which also features two other dining establishments—"Elements Hanwoo" on the third floor and "Sufeeljungseol" on the fourth. The restaurant is in a relatively secluded location, giving off a vibe that suggests they are fully committed to making the place a success.

The exterior design is sleek and modern, with a rough cement finish and uniform yellow lighting from large glass windows that add to its contemporary look. A unique feature is the moat surrounding the building, with water flowing around it, enhancing the sense of luxury and attention to detail. The outdoor space is well-kept, featuring a manicured lawn and seating areas that contribute to the overall charm. Inside, the marble floors and modern decor offer a stylish dining environment.

3. Menu ★★★
At EDDY's Kitchen, diners can choose between seasonal and signature courses or opt for individual à la carte dishes.

Seasonal Course: 49,000 KRW
Signature Course: 89,000 KRW
The courses typically include dishes like sea bream carpaccio, lobster, daily fish, risotto, Spanish octopus, and a choice of main dishes (such as Hanwoo or Iberico pork), followed by dessert and tea. Though the Signature Course is pricier, it seems fitting for special occasions.

À la carte options include soups, pastas, pizzas, and risottos, with individual dishes ranging around 20,000 KRW and steaks priced at 45,000 to 55,000 KRW. Surprisingly, the individual dishes are reasonably priced given the upscale ambiance.

4. Taste & Pricing ★★★★
During my visit, I opted for some individual dishes:

Grilled Scallops (25,000 KRW)
Quattro Formaggi Pizza (20,000 KRW)
Vongole Pasta (21,000 KRW)
Hanwoo Sirloin Steak (45,000 KRW, medium-rare)

Each dish left me impressed. The scallops were tender and perfectly cooked, without any toughness.

The vongole pasta had a clean, light flavor, and the quattro formaggi pizza, with its creamy and rich combination of four cheeses, was satisfying. The highlight was the Hanwoo sirloin steak-cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. At this price point, the quality was beyond satisfactory, making it a great value for money.

5. Overall Impression ★★★★
Since the popularity of the " Culinary Class Wars " Netflix series, interest in fine dining has surged, but most famous chefs are based in Seoul or nearby areas, making it harder for residents of the Gyeongnam region to enjoy such experiences. EDDY's Kitchen, with its thoughtful, well-executed dishes, bridges that gap and offers fine dining at its best.

With its open kitchen concept, friendly staff, and reasonable prices, EDDY's Kitchen is a must-visit for anyone in the Gyeongnam area looking for a special dining experience.
